Built by JPT Homes as the builder’s own family home, this single-level dwelling boasts a large basement, open-plan living and a classic design that includes clean lines and plenty of natural light. JPT Homes sourced products and finishes that allowed a classic style and finish, and designed the exterior of the building to be sympathetic to mid- century houses in the beachside area where the home is located.

The internal finishes of this home include the American oak timber floors and travertine-style tiles in the stunning entrance hallway. The oversized skirting boards and soaring ceilings help emphasise the abundance of natural light within the home.

The traditional French provincial kitchen is a major feature of the home, which includes a butler’s pantry, pressed metal splashbacks, a massive Smeg oven and Quantum Quartz benchtops. The perfect space for those who love to entertain, the kitchen acts as the centrepiece to the large open-plan living area.

To maximise the space of the block, the large basement was built underneath most of the house, and the interior of the home features a split-level living area and open-plan study.

The home includes several energy- and water-saving features, with solar panels, double-glazed windows and rainwater tanks that service the drip irrigation and household sanitation. As you move outside, the landscaping of the home includes a mixture of native and edible plants, as well as bamboo cladding on the north-side to act as a fence around the deck.

JPT Homes is a residential design and construction company. The business was started in 2010 by company director Gerry Flood. A carpenter by trade, Flood has been a builder for more than 25 years. Based in Melbourne’s Bayside area, JPT Homes services include building new homes, renovations and extensions. JPT Homes provides clients with their own dedicated builder, who will work solely on their project for the duration of the contract.
